Arteta Fears Fitness Crisis Could Hinder The Gunners' Trophy Quest
Arsenal's manager has expressed concern that his team's chase for honors this campaign is being threatened by a worrying cycle of injuries and a grueling fixture list.

Star player Declan Rice missed the Champions League trip to Belgium due to sickness. In addition, attacker Leandro Trossard and center-back William Saliba remain on the sidelines.
There was, however, positive news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the South American forward registered to their Champions League squad. He replaces the injured youngster Max Dowman, who suffered an ankle injury.
"Training, no because we don't have time to train. But clearly the fact that you are missing players, you are placing demands on other players more, there's a consequence to that and it's a really vicious cycle."
Dowman's setback is the most recent in a long series of injuries for the North London side. Since the start of last season, they have recorded 95 player absences, the second-most total in the Premier League.
Extended Absences
- Defenders Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel MagalhĂŁes are unlikely to be back until 2025.
- Midfielder Kai Havertz continues to rehabilitate from knee and "requires more time," according to the manager.
Arteta dismissed the idea that training methods were to culprit, citing a lack of time for drills. He emphasized the pressure on fit players, some of whom have played over 150 matches in two years.
Transfer Strategy
Despite a major summer investment exceeding ÂŁ250 million, Arteta stated the club is unlikely planning to dip into the winter recruitment market.
"At the moment we're just concentrating on bringing the players back and with luck it will be a matter of weeks," he said. "We know how crucial those weeks are going to be."
Next Challenge
The squad suffered their initial defeat in 18 games at the hands of Aston Villa, cutting their advantage at the summit of the Premier League to two clear points.
Focus now shifts to the European stage, where a sixth consecutive group victory would all but secure a knockout phase place. Winger Gabriel Martinelli could create history by scoring in a fifth successive European match.
"The team is frustrated with the outcome, but we have to move forward," Martinelli stated. "This isn't like all is going wrong because we lost one game. So we remain united."
