Body versus World Standing - Katie Boulter's Melbourne Grand Slam Dilemma
Britain's Katie Boulter admits she feels she has to "choose between my physical condition and my world standing" as the competition continues for a position in January's Australian Open main event.
While the typical WTA Tour season is over, there are still position points to be won in South American nations, regional locations, Ecuador and European destinations.
The women's competitor lineup for the first Grand Slam of the upcoming season will be based on the global standings of the December cutoff, which could create a challenging situation for players close to the cut.
Injury Concerns
Ex- British top-ranked player Boulter experienced an hip muscle in her last tournament of the year in Hong Kong last period, and is now evaluating whether to participate in the WTA 125 secondary tournament in Angers, France, in the initial week of December.
The athlete's current physical issue, and the fact she would need to win at least three matches in Angers to boost her position, means she may probably end up not participating.
Different Systems
In comparison, men's competitors are not confronting the identical situation, as for the initial instance the male Australian Open competitor lineup will be created from this week's positions, which is the ATP's official year-end position determination.
The adjustment is designed to preventing players from seeking position points during what is basically the break period.
Professional Adjustments
This year has been a challenging one for Boulter.
She won only fourteen elite main-draw games and lately split with coach Biljana Veselinovic after a three-year working relationship in which she secured several WTA victories.
"Biljana is an outstanding trainer, and an exceptionally quality individual as well, which produces circumstances particularly challenging," Boulter said.
The search for a new instructor is currently ongoing, seeking an individual who has elite expertise as Boulter still believes she can be a top-20 player.
Career Objectives
"Progressing with a replacement instructor, one thing I'm absolutely certain on is that they are going to be someone who has extensive knowledge in how to make it to the peak performance of this sport," she stated.
"I've been ranked as high as twenty-three and I believe I can climb back to that level. I am not convinced my standard has disappeared, I believe the reliability must enhance.
"My aim is not merely to be positioned 50, forty, 30, twenty - we've been there. The goal is to be among 20."
