Lawmakers from the Democratic party voiced outrage after Donald Trump charged a group of Democratic representatives of being "betrayers" and declared they should be arrested and punished "with execution" following their posting of a contentious video.

The Content That Provoked the Debate

The video footage, released on Tuesday, showcases six Democratic lawmakers who formerly worked in defense or defense roles.

Following Trump's remarks on Thursday, Democratic leadership issued a joint declaration condemning the remarks.

"Political violence has no position in the United States," they stated. "Congress members who were featured in the video all worked our country with great national pride and honor. We clearly condemn Donald Trump's disgusting and harmful threats of violence against congressional representatives, and appeal to Republican lawmakers to vigorously do the same."
