Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
