Iran Claims Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
