Jurgen Klopp admits a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won England's top flight last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told the podcast host: “I said I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, so I could make the decision later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to tempt his return to the dugout, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, excellent performer. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact at the club. Jota was killed in a car crash with his brother this past summer.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates also. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
