Former owner Dejphon Chansiri has left after a long protest by Owls fans

Sheffield Wednesday's joint administrator says they have multiple credible potential buyers and the organization could have fresh ownership by the end of the year.

The administrator is heading the search for fresh proprietors after Dejphon Chansiri placed the second-tier team into financial protection on Friday.

He says the Owls are required to remain on the sale block for nearly a month under Football League guidelines and claims they have already received concrete interest.

Wigfield told a programme he expects the fresh proprietors are settled to acquire new players in the winter transfer period.

He commented: "As always, you attract a many curious groups that probably will not fulfill the requirements, but inside the numerous queries we've had, we definitely believe that there are already several serious contenders that look like the real deal.

"There are two requirements that prospective buyers essentially have to fulfill to afterwards open dialogue and to create an possibility where they can present a proposal.

"Firstly is they must prove the insolvency practitioners that they could establish the sports team viable. So they've got to show that they've possess adequate finances to be able to fund it for the next few years.

"And secondly, we need to be convinced that they can meet the proprietor suitability assessment, and if they can satisfy both of those, then we'll start talking to them seriously."

Followers Have Raised £500K Starting Friday

He anticipates the sale process will advance swiftly and a consortium might have primary bidder designation in November, with a goal to concluding the acquisition of Wednesday ahead of the year's end.

"Because of Football League guidelines, we are required to market the organization for 28 days," he explained. "So it'll be at least four weeks until we're approaching a preferred-bidder status.

"Therefore I'm confident that by the close of November, if circumstances are favorable, we could determine who's planning to buy the sports team.

"Then hopefully a deal can be finalized within this year, so that the new owner is established for... the January transfer window, if the EFL allows the fresh proprietor to buy players."

Sheffield followers reappeared in their significant crowds on last Saturday following their previous boycott and a highest this season attendance of 27,261 spectators observed the setback to Oxford at the stadium.

Wigfield says supporters have already spent more than half a million pounds on admission and in the team store to keep the Owls going.

"Initially there was no money to begin with, but the followers have since then put in over half a million pounds from Friday onward through buying match passes and club goods," he added.

"Thus the response has been incredible, but we need to keep raising money to be able to pay the wages this coming Friday.

"Consequently additional admissions are becoming available for the following matches today and we must have the followers to maintain acquiring merchandise. It's quite a challenging situation, but that's what we need."
