New Particulars Come to Light About the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Recent details have emerged about the tragic deaths of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also disputed widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes descriptions of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
