Performer Refutes Anti-Vax Views After Narrating Disputed Coronavirus Documentary
Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a new documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and praises ex- cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Disputed Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the health crisis for assertions that the virus was a result of a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
The book's writing partner, a producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone media personality the Infowars host. The producer took to social media hailing Neeson's involvement in the project.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for the actor have released a response pushing back against claims that he subscribes to anti-immunization views.
"Many understand that unethical practices might be present within the medical sector, but that should never be confused with rejection of vaccines," the statement reads. "Neeson is not, and is not, against vaccines. His considerable work with the UN children's agency highlights his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."
The response noted that the star had no hand in the project's editorial content and that concerns about its content should be directed to the filmmakers.
Central Claims Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover provided by Neeson includes several controversial points:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
- It declares that "medical science has become deeply politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
- It further attacks stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it mentions a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Background and Recent Issues
It further cites a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the focus of a correction by the network for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, Kennedy called on the CDC to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, contrary to a new report from the World Health Organisation confirming no evidence has been found.
A Previous Statement of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the film's message, Neeson has in the past voiced strong support for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," adding that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."
The documentary finishes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This is not the finish of our story. This is the beginning of a new chapter."
