Previous BBC Consultants Participate in MPs' Questioning In the Wake of Allegations of Bias in Leaked Memo

Former British Broadcasting Corporation specialists appearing in front of parliamentary committee

We start with questions from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, that oversees the group.

She initiates by providing background to the unauthorized memo authored by Michael Prescott and printed in a daily publication.

"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning this way or that way, I simply desire it balanced, impartial and fair," he states.

In response to a query whether he considers the BBC is institutionally biased, the adviser answers: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is world class - both documentary and entertainment shows."

However, he continues: "There remains substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further ex-adviser British Broadcasting Corporation specialist examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she views the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it maintains a "continuous process and active debate" regarding fluid and multifaceted topics.

"Whether the BBC was prepared to engage in a genuine discussion and debate and implement changes?" she reflects. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
