During an inauguration day in office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” America's largest city, promising “a different age” and an audacious start to his administration.

A Groundbreaking Leader

The young political star, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
